Research Interests

Discovering means of long-term storage for biological materials presents interesting challenges. My research focuses on the mechanisms of protein stabilization in disaccharide matrices. Using statistical mechanics and molecular modeling techniques, I am working on developing certain key factors that contribute to maintaining protein structure and function over extended storage times. By gaining a better understanding of these systems, more intelligent design of storage materials will result, and longer storage times will enhance the availability of biological materials like drugs or vaccines.
